Do I need to hire an immigration lawyer to apply for a visa or Green Card for the USA?
It can be helpful to enlist the services of an immigration lawyer when filing for visas or Green Cards but it isn't absolutely necessary. In some cases, companies hiring expats already have a legal team and/or extensive experience with the application process.
Can my family work in the US?
Members of families are usually allowed visas if their spouse has been given permission to work in the US. Once residency is established, spouses can then apply to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services for permission for employment.
Do I need a Social Security Number to live in the USA?
Only expats working in the USA will need a Social Security Number. This number is crucial in order to collect wages lawfully and to possibly qualify for and receive social security benefits in the future.
For non-working expats, it's not necessary to obtain a Social Security Number, as alternative forms of identification can be used to obtain a driver's licence, register a child in a local school, or apply for health insurance.
