hi there, I want to move to Norway, but neither my partner nor I have a typical job where we could look to find the equivalent in Norway. He is an illustrator and I am an editor. We make good livings and could both continue our current jobs from there. Is there a way to get permanent residence without gettin a Norwegian job? Thank you so much for any insight you may be able to provide.

Hi there

Are you or your partner European citizens? If you are, it should not be difficult for you to reside in Norway without conventional employment. However, if you are not European citizens this may be more difficult, as residence permits are generally only given to those with a valid offer of employment in the country.

Have look at our guide to visas for Norway for more information on which visas you may be eligible for.
