My family and I are relocating to Italy and we are wondering if schools offer support for children with disabilities? If so, what kind of support can we expect and would it only be international schools that can help? International schools seem a bit pricey but we'd like to manage our finances accordingly - would extra support come with extra fees?
Thanks in advance!
Definitely, you will have no trouble finding schools that offer support for children with disabilities in Italy. The education system in Italy is strong and of a high quality that excludes nobody. Public, private and international schools can offer inclusive education covering a range of needs, although the level of support may vary. We provide a list of international schools in Rome which you can check out as they provide specific information on their websites and can be contacted directly for further information. Some schools may only cater to mild disability while others provide a comprehensive range of services.
It is possible that in private schools these services come with higher fees if one-on-one support is needed, though this may differ across schools. What's great about Italy is that healthcare is free for residents as is education in public schools, showing how great the quality of life can be there.

You mention managing finances, do you already have a job in place before you move? For some info on finances, we have an up-to-date cost of living in Italy page that you can use to help you out.
Hope that helps!
