Hello - we are looking for some advice from expats with experience of Saudi Arabia.  We are considering a work posting to Riyadh, but a key factor is whether it is practical for our pet dogs to accompany us.  We know that it is possible to take them (legally and logistically), but are interested in views on the practicalities of keeping dogs in the Kingdom - exercising, general attitude of compounds to pets, availability of vets etc.

Any advice gratefully received.

Great question... if you get any answers I'd be very interested to hear what people have to say. We too are possibly looking to move to Riyadh and however much I want to bring our dog I couldn't move him there if it's not practical x

Hi Raina, check out our guide to Shipping Pets to Saudi Arabia. It should have all the info you need and if not feel free to contact the company that authored the article (you can find it in the footer of the article). Best of luck with your move.

Hi, so some compounds do accept pets. Do some research on the compound you are staying - or just ask them. Most expat compounds are spread over huge areas with gardens and even pet walking areas. The compound I stay in is pet-friendly. I have 2 pooches and a cat :) No issues so far. They even have a vet and a pet store in-house.
