Hi all,

I'm a Brit living in gloomy grey Britain, dreaming of emigrating to my wife's home town in Brazil (nr Rio Preto, SP).  She is worried about the state of the education system there and how that would impact on our two primary school age children.  She is a qualified secondary school teacher there so does know her stuff (don't tell her I said that, though!)

However, although I know the Brazilian public school system is pretty wobbly, I was wondering what people think about the private school system there and whether a couple of intelligent children (in our opinion, of course!) could thrive or whether they would lag behind the state school education they are getting in the UK at the moment.

Thanks in advance,

Tom.

Hi Tom

Hopefully a local expat expert will be able to get back to you as well, but for now, have a look at our guide to Education and Schools in Brazil.

Would you consider sending your children to an international school? There are a number of these in most major cities in Brazil, many of which offer the British curriculum. We have a list of some popular international schools in Sao Paulo if you're looking for some options.

Hope this helps!
