Hi there

The education system in Denmark is known to be confusing for new arrivals. Schooling is compulsory from the age of six, and the school year usually starts in August. All children legally residing in Denmark should be able to attend public schools free of charge, but these may be difficult for children who do not speak the local language to adapt to.

Have a look at our extensive guide to education and schools in Denmark for a detailed breakdown of the Danish public schooling system.
